Keeping Your Back Healthy

>> Minggu, 11 Oktober 2009

The back is the part of the body which is easy to take for granted. When it is working as it should there is no real need to consider it but when it develops painful problems it can overcloud everything else. Because the back makes up part of the core of the body it is important to keep it strong and healthy. By keeping your back healthy it will be easier to stay in shape and likewise if you are in good shape it will be easier to maintain a strong back provided you follow some simple tips.

Choose what you sleep on carefully as the type of mattress that you sleep on can have an effect on the well being and the condition of your back especially. There are two common types of mattresses. The spring loaded and the memory foam variety. Spring based mattresses are the older more traditional variety . They work by pushing against the body to provide support but the springs may lose their responsiveness after a time and could need replacing after a few years. If you have ever slept on a decade old spring mattress bed you may have experienced the way one or two of the springs seem to jump out and exert too much pressure on a part of the body. When your mattress starts doing that its time to change it.

To help your back as much as possible you need to support it. A firm mattress is recommended for bad backs as it will provide the necessary support. Where problems begin to appear is when the mattress supports some of the body differently to others. This can lead to pressure points on
knees and ligaments where it would be useful to have more of a cushioned effect. Memory foam works by molding to the shape of the body so that it provides even support throughout the body. This means that there are no points of the body which are taking more weight than others so no parts are being strained.

By allowing your backs weight to be distributed evenly across a surface there is less chance of it being put under any unnecessary stress. The right mattress can make a difference and you will be able to find more information at your local [http://www.parkbeds.co.uk]bed or mattress shop.
